Accurascale has released a new model of the Clayhood wagons, which are based on the British Rail Blue pre-TOPS era. These wagons were built between 1954 and 1960, with a total of 875 units being produced by BR. The models are highly detailed and feature a die-cast underframe and axles, as well as brass bearings for smooth running.

The Clayhood wagons were originally used to transport China clay, but also carried ball clay, which was used in the production of pottery. The wagons had a distinctive tarpaulin sheet that was added to keep the cargo dry, and were later modified with a pent hood to prevent water from pooling around the load. The wagons were also used to transport various other products, including dry China clay powder used in the glazing process.

The models feature a removable tarpaulin sheet, showing a fully detailed interior and tarpaulin bar. The wagons also come with a range of accessories, including etched metal and plastic detail parts, turned sprung metal buffers, and NEM standard coupler pockets.

The Clayhood wagons were classified as UCV under TOPS, and were later reclassified as OOV in 1983. The fleet was eventually withdrawn in 1988 and replaced by air-braked CDA wagons. Several of the Clayhood wagons have survived into preservation and are now on display in railway museums and on heritage railways.
