Accurascale has announced a second production run of their OO gauge 1:76.2 scale Mark 1 56ft 11ā non-gangway suburban coaches in Maroon livery. The models are part of the 'Transporting Britain' range and are designed to represent the coaches that were used on East Anglian commuter services, as well as those used across the Eastern, Western, Midland, and Scottish regions.
The models feature a range of details, including accurate replica BREL BR1 bogies, blackened wheels and bearings, and a die-cast underframe. The coaches also feature a fully detailed interior, including seating, luggage racks, and bulkheads, as well as a lighting package that includes magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting and all bogie pick-ups.
The Maroon livery was introduced by British Railways in the late 1950s and was used on a variety of coaching stock, including the 57' Mk.1 non-gangway stock. The livery was applied to the stock in different regions, with the Eastern Region opting for a plain maroon livery, while the Midland and Western Regions had lining on the stock. The Scottish Region had a mixture of plain and lined stock.
The production run will include models of the BS, C, S, and SO types, with and without lining, as well as models of the Scottish Region. The models will be priced at £64.95 each and are due for delivery in Q1 2025.
Accurascale's Mark 1 suburban coaches were first launched in summer 2022 and have been highly detailed and accurate models of these essential vehicles. The models have been designed to be highly detailed and feature a museum quality finish.
