Accurascale has released a new set of five OO gauge, 1:76.2 scale model wagons, representing the Procor version of the British Rail PTA (Push-Pull Tanker wagon) type. This set, Pack 2, features wagons in the livery of ARC, a British Rail Blue (TOPS) livery that was introduced in the 1970s.
The models are designed to represent the early version of the Procor PTA wagons, which were built by Redpath Dorman Long in 1972 for transporting iron ore. The wagons were later acquired by Procor and used on various freight trains, including those carrying Mendip stone and iron ore.
Each set includes five wagons, with individual running numbers and decoration. The models feature NEM standard coupler pockets with kinematic close coupling functionality, NEM narrow tension lock couplers, and sprung metal buffers. The models also include etched metal factory-fitted detailing, extra fine factory-fitted detail plastic parts, and extra fine factory-fitted pipework.
The PTA wagons were known for their distinctive BSC 'Axle Motion' bogies and were used on some of the heaviest trains on the British Rail network. The models are available in four different liveries: Yeoman's revised "Big Y" scheme, ARC's olive scheme with 'Procor' markings, and two British Steel liveries representing the Port Talbot-Llanwern and Redcar-Consett/South Bank routes.
