Accurascale has released a new set of five PTA wagons, which are modelled in the early ARC livery and represent the British Rail Blue TOPS period. The wagons are modelled in OO gauge and feature a range of improvements over the previous release.

The wagons are based on the British Steel subsidiary Redpath Dorman Long's original design, which was built from 1972 for transporting iron ore. They were known for their distinctive BSC 'Axle Motion' bogies and were a favourite among enthusiasts due to their association with the heaviest trains on the British Rail network.

The wagons have been used on various routes, including the Port Talbot to Llanwern line, which saw 27 British Steel PTA tippers hauled by Class 37s and later Class 56 locomotives. They were later painted in house liveries for Foster Yeoman and ARC, and saw service on Mendip stone trains.

Accurascale's model of the PTA wagons features improved details around the bogie area, including etched brake discs and track pickup for the tail light. The model is available in four different liveries, including two Mendip stone liveries and two British Steel liveries, and features a range of authentic details, including individual lettering and logos.

The model is available as a pack of five wagons, with each wagon featuring a unique running number and decoration. The model is suitable for use on curves of 2 feet or more and features NEM standard coupler pockets with kinematic close coupling functionality. The set also includes sprung metal buffers, etched metal detailing, and extra fine factory-fitted detail parts.
