Accurascale has released a set of five PTA Foster Yeoman Silver (CAIB) wagons in OO gauge. The model represents the characteristic tipplers that were built by Redpath Dorman Long in 1972 for transporting iron ore.
The wagons were originally used on British Rail's Sectorised network and were later acquired by Foster Yeoman and Procor. They were used on various freight trains, including those carrying Mendip stone from quarries in the south of England to London and the home counties.
Accurascale's model of the PTA wagons has been updated from its previous release, with improvements made to the bogie area and the addition of etched brake discs. The model also features track pick up for the tail light instead of a battery powered one.
The set includes five wagons, each with individual running numbers and decoration. The models are available in four liveries, including two Mendip stone liveries and two British Steel iconic workings. The British Steel workings include the Redcar to Consett/South Bank route, which was famous for using pairs of Class 37 locomotives.
The model features a range of details, including NEM standard coupler pockets, sprung metal buffers, etched metal factory-fitted detailing, and extra fine factory-fitted pipework and lettering. The wagons are fitted with BSC Axle Motion bogies and blackened RP25.110 profile wheelsets. A flashing red tail light is also fitted to one outer vehicle per outer pack.
