Accurascale has released a new range of OO gauge Mk.2c coaches in 1:76.2 scale, featuring the large toilet window variant. These models are highly detailed and accurate, with etched metal and high-fidelity plastic parts, including handrails, brake and steam heat pipes, and roof vents. The coaches are designed to run on 16.5mm track and have a minimum radius of 438mm.
The models feature a range of authentic liveries, including BR Blue/Grey, Network SouthEast, InterCity, and TransPennine stock, as well as a distinctive South Wales & West livery. The coaches have working interior lighting, powered by track pickup and powerpack capacitors, and come with close-coupling mechanisms and free-rolling metal wheelsets.
Accurascale's Mk.2c coaches are designed to be versatile, with the ability to be easily converted to EM or P4 gauge and with different buffers for retracted and non-retracted positions. The models are also compatible with Kadee couplers and have a full lighting package, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting and 'stay-alive' capacitors.
The Mk.2c coaches were initially allocated to the London Midland Region but were later used across other regions, including the Western, Eastern, and Southern regions. They were used in a variety of services, including cross-country, TransPennine, and Network SouthEast loco-hauled services. The coaches were eventually replaced by DMUs, but a small fleet was reinstated by the South Wales & West franchise in 1996 and remained in service until 2004.
Accurascale's Mk.2c coaches are a significant addition to the BR coaching fleet, offering modellers a range of opportunities to expand their existing rakes or build new formations. The models are available in a range of liveries and eras, making them a versatile option for modellers.
