Accurascale has released a new range of OO gauge models of British Rail Mk.2c coaches, featuring a large toilet window. These models represent the Phase I version of the Mk.2c, which was introduced in the 1960s and featured various roof vent configurations.
The models are highly detailed and feature separately-applied etched metal and high-fidelity plastic parts, including handrails, brake and steam heat pipes, ETH cabling and sockets, footsteps, and roof vents. The underframe is fully detailed with numerous separate parts, pipe runs, and accurate differences between versions.
The coaches are fitted with blackened RP25.110 profile wheel-sets and have a minimum radius requirement of 438mm. The models are available in a range of liveries, including BR Blue/Grey, Network SouthEast, InterCity, and South Wales & West.
The release includes unique features such as prism-free glazing, pre-painted etched metal water filler covers, and accurate interiors with characteristic 'winged' headrests. The models also feature a full lighting package, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting, directional lighting with DC or DCC control, and a 'stay-alive' capacitor.
Accurascale has also released a range of Mk.2b and Mk.2c coaches in South Wales & West liveries, which were leased by the franchise in the 1990s. These coaches were used on various services across the UK and are a great addition to the range.
This release is a significant addition to the BR coaching fleet, offering modellers a highly detailed and accurate representation of the Mk.2c coaches. With over 20 coaches available, there are plenty of options for modellers to expand their existing rakes or build new formations behind popular Accurascale locomotives.
