Accurascale has released a new range of OO gauge BR Mk.2c coaches in 1:76.2 scale, featuring a large toilet window and accurate details based on the Phase I Mk.2c design.
The model features a highly-detailed exterior with fine rivet detail, separately-applied etched metal and plastic parts, and prism free glazing. The underframe is fully detailed with numerous separate parts and accurate differences between versions. The coaches also feature accurate B4 bogies, which can be re-gauged to EM or P4 gauges.
The interior of the coaches is also highly detailed, featuring characteristic 'winged' headrests, separate metal interior handrails, and a fully-detailed guard's compartment. The model also includes a full lighting package, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting, 'stay-alive' capacitors, and directional lighting with DC or DCC control.
The model is available in a range of liveries, including BR Blue/Grey, Network SouthEast, InterCity, and TransPennine stock, as well as a unique South Wales & West livery.
The coaches are designed to be highly versatile, with a minimum radius of 438mm and a coach length of 269mm. The model is suitable for use with 16.5mm track and can be easily converted to Kadee-compatiable knuckle couplers.
The Mk.2c coaches were initially allocated to the London Midland Region but were later used across various regions, including the Southern Region. The coaches were eventually replaced by DMUs and then returned to service in the 1990s with the South Wales & West franchise. The model is a significant addition to the BR coaching fleet and offers excellent opportunities for modellers to expand their rakes or build new formations behind popular locomotives such as the Class 50, 31, and 37.
