Accurascale has released a new OO gauge model of a British Rail Mk.2c TSO coach in BR Blue/Grey livery, featuring a large toilet window. The model is highly detailed and accurate, with separately-applied etched metal and high-fidelity plastic parts, including exterior rivet detail, handrails, and roof vents.
The model features prism free glazing and pre-painted etched metal water filler covers. The underframe is fully detailed with separate parts, pipe runs, and accurate differences between versions. The bogies are the most accurate B4 type ever produced, allowing for re-gauging to EM or P4 gauges. The model also includes blackened RP25.110 profile wheel-sets and different buffers for retracted and non-retracted positions.
The interior of the coach is accurately detailed, with characteristic 'winged' headrests and separate metal interior handrails. The model also features a full lighting package, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting and directional lighting with DC or DCC control on the driving trailer. The model is suitable for use on minimum radius curves of 438mm (2nd radius set-track) and has a length of 269mm.
This release is part of a comprehensive range of Mk.2c coaches offered by Accurascale, which includes models in various authentic liveries, including Network SouthEast, InterCity, and TransPennine stock. The range also includes the South Wales & West Mk.2b/c coaches, which were used by the South Wales & West franchise from 1996 to 2004.
The South Wales & West Mk.2b/c coaches were introduced in 1996, when the franchise hired a fleet of Mk.1 and Mk.2 coaches from Carnforth Railway Restoration Services. The coaches were used on services linking Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Bristol, and were primarily hauled by Class 37/4s.
The Accurascale model of the Mk.2c TSO coach is a significant addition to the BR coaching fleet, offering exceptional fidelity and build quality. The model is available in a range of liveries and eras, providing excellent opportunities for modellers to expand existing rakes or build new formations behind popular Accurascale locomotives.
