Accurascale has released a new OO gauge model of the British Rail Mk.2c BSO coach in South Wales & West blue livery. This model is part of the company's range of highly-detailed coaches that accurately represent the British Rail Blue period.
The model features a number of intricate details, including separately-applied etched metal and high-fidelity plastic parts, such as handrails, brake/steam heat pipes, and roof vents. The underframe is fully detailed with numerous separate parts and pipe runs, and the bogies are accurate and can be re-gauged to EM or P4 gauges. The model also features prism-free glazing and pre-painted etched metal water filler covers.
The coach's interior is also highly detailed, with characteristic 'winged' headrests, separate metal interior handrails, and a fully-detailed guard's compartment. The model includes a full lighting package, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting, 'stay-alive' capacitors, and directional lighting with DC or DCC control.
Accurascale is offering a range of Mk.2c coaches in different liveries, including BR Blue, Network SouthEast, InterCity, and TransPennine stock, as well as the distinctive South Wales & West livery featured on this model. The model is available in a variety of formats, including separate coaches and rake packs.
The Mk.2c coaches were introduced in the 1970s and were initially allocated to the London Midland Region. They were later used on various services across the country, including cross-country, TransPennine, and Network SouthEast routes. The coaches were eventually replaced by DMUs in the 1990s, but some were leased back into service by the South Wales & West franchise in the 1990s and 2000s.
Accurascale's model of the Mk.2c BSO coach is a highly detailed and accurate representation of the prototype, with a number of features that make it suitable for modellers of all levels. The model is available now from the company's website and from selected retailers.
