Accurascale has announced a second production run of their OO gauge Mark 1 56ft 11" non-gangway suburban coaches in Maroon livery. This follows a high demand from model railway enthusiasts for the coaches, which were first introduced in 2022.
The coaches are accurate representations of the British Railways' Mark 1 57' non-gangway stock, which was introduced in the late 1950s. The coaches feature a highly detailed interior, including replica BREL BR1 bogies, accurate blackened wheels and bearings, and a fully detailed under-frame.
The Accurascale models include a range of features, including working interior lighting, separately fitted door handles and lamp brackets, and scale width wire handrails and water pipes. The coaches are also equipped with a 'stay-alive' super-capacitor bank to provide flicker-free lighting.
The models are being produced in a range of liveries, including the Midland Region's plain maroon and lined maroon, and the Scottish Region's lined maroon. The production run is scheduled to begin shortly, with delivery expected in Q1 2025.
