Accurascale has announced a second production run of their OO/4mm gauge Mark 1 56ft 11ā non-gangway suburban coaches in Maroon livery. These coaches are part of the 'Transporting Britain' range and are based on the BR Mk.1 design, which was used in multiple regions across the UK, including the Eastern, Western, Midland and Scottish regions.
The Accurascale models are highly detailed, with features such as die-cast metal chassis, plastic body, accurate BREL BR1 bogies, and blackened RP25-110 profile wheels. They also include a full lighting package, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting, all bogie pick-ups, and a 'stay-alive' super-capacitor bank to ensure flicker-free lighting.
The prototype history of the Mk.1 57' non-gangway stock is complex, with changes in appearance and livery over time. The stock was initially introduced in a plain all-over carmine red livery, but by 1959, most of the fleet was painted in a lined maroon livery. Regional preferences, such as the use of high or low waist lining, also varied.
The Accurascale models will be available in a range of liveries, including Midland Region BS, C, S and SO in Maroon, without and with lining, as well as Scottish Region BS, C and S in Maroon, all lined. The models will be delivered in Q1 2025 and will be priced at £64.95 each.
