Accurascale has announced a second production run of their OO gauge Mark 1 56ft 11" non-gangway suburban coaches in Maroon livery. These coaches are part of the 'Transporting Britain' range and are modelled on the stock used in the East Anglian commuter traffic heading in and out of London's Kings Cross, Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations, as well as in other regions across the UK.
The model features highly detailed OO gauge models on 16.5mm track, with a die-cast metal chassis and plastic body for ideal running weight. The coaches have accurate replica BREL BR1 bogies, blackened RP25-110 profile wheels, and NEM standard coupling sockets with a kinematic close coupling system. The model also features scale width wire handrails, water pipes, and passenger communication gear, as well as separately fitted door handles and lamp brackets.
The model has a full lighting package, including magnet 'wand' controlled interior lighting, all bogie pick-ups, and a 'stay-alive' super-capacitor bank for flicker-free lighting. The interior features a fully accurate, replica layout, complete with highly detailed seating and luggage racks, and is fully decorated.
The model is available in Maroon livery, with and without lining, and is based on the Midland and Scottish Regions. The production run is scheduled to begin shortly, with delivery expected in Q1 2025. The price will be the same as the first production run, at £64.95 each.
The prototype history of the 57' non-gangway stock is detailed, with information on the changes in livery and vehicle design that occurred during the 1950s and 1960s. The model is part of a range that aims to recreate authentic rakes of Mark 1 suburban coaches, and features an exquisite level of detail and a museum-quality finish.
