Manufacturer description

British Railways 21 Ton Coal 21VB / MDV Wagon

ZDV no. LDB311717 was noted as being used by the Electrification Engineers for collecting scrap metal during the latter stages of the Birmingham Cross City Electrification scheme between Lichfield and Ridditch, in the period between May 1991 (when the first electrification mast was planted) and June 1993 (when load bank testing was completed).

Accurascale BR 21T ZDV Engineers Wagon TOPS Bauxite – exclusive single‑wagon model in 1/120 scale. The model represents a British Rail 21 ton coal wagon (BR 21VB / MDV) painted in the BR bauxite TOPS livery, with a 4‑wheel arrangement and original British Railways construction of the 1950s. It carries the manufacturer part number ACC1099EXL and depicts the British Rail Blue TOPS period.

The real wagon, numbered LDB311717, was employed by the Electrification Engineers to collect scrap metal during the later stages of the Birmingham Cross‑City Electrification scheme between Lichfield and Ridditch. It was in active use from 01/05/1991, when the first electrification mast was installed, until 30/06/1993, when load‑bank testing was completed.

The model includes a worn, slap‑dash paint finish and authentic TOPS reclassification markings. It features OLEO buffers, roller‑bearing axle‑boxes, extra flap doors on the sides (not fitted on the MDO version), and narrow tension‑lock couplers with NEM‑standard coupler pockets. Packaged individually with a certificate, the wagon also has extra fine factory‑fitted plastic parts and sprung buffers, and bears the correct individual lettering and codes as found on the original vehicle.
