Manufacturer description

These Wagons are Exclusive to Planet Industrials

Our dark grey and orange livery is inspired by the internal user wagons at Grimethorpe Colliery in North Yorkshire, however due to their plain livery they could be adapted for use on your own industrial layout. The pack will contain three individually numbered wagons.

Prototype info

Introduced in 1950, almost 14,000 of these mineral wagons were built for British Rail. Two basic designs were used, both having twin side doors and one end door in their 21ft 6in long bodies, mounted on 12ft wheelbase under-frames. The 21 ton wagons were closer to their 16 ton predecessors in height, and lasted longest both in production and in service. Many saw extended lives in industrial service.

Accurascale Planet Industrials MDO is a model of mineral wagon produced by Accurascale for the Period represented by this model: Initial Privatisation. The model is identified by the Manufacturer Part Number ACC1085-MDONP and is exclusive to Planet Industrials.

The wagons are finished in a dark grey and orange livery based on the internal user wagons that operated at Grimethorpe Colliery in North Yorkshire. The plain colour scheme makes the wagons suitable for adaptation to other industrial layouts. Each pack contains three wagons, each individually numbered.

The prototype design was introduced in 1950, with almost 14,000 examples built for British Rail. Two basic designs were produced, each featuring twin side doors and a single end door on a body 21 ft 6 in long, mounted on a 12 ft wheelbase under‑frame. The 21‑ton wagons retained a similar height to their 16‑ton predecessors and enjoyed the longest production run and service life, many later finding extended use in industrial service.
