The Crawley Signal Box Preservation Society is hosting an open day at the historic Crawley Level Crossing Signalbox on 05 December 2026. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about how railway signalling operated in the past, before the advent of computer control. On display will be the original levers and equipment used by signalmen to control the flow of trains.
During the open day, visitors can try their hand at being a signalman by operating the levers and getting a feel for what life was like in the signal box. The event is free to attend, although donations are welcome to help support the ongoing maintenance of the signal box.
The event will take place from 12 noon until 4pm, providing an opportunity for the public to explore the historic signal box and learn about its significance in the history of railway signalling.
