In an attempt to revitalise the home-grown tourist industry in a post-lockdown Britain, Locomotive Services Ltd have introduced their new 'Staycation Express' service in the north west. Making three return trips between Skipton in West Yorkshire and Appleby in Cumbria, the 'Staycation Express' provides passengers with spectacular views of the Yorkshire Dales, travelling over the famous Settle and Carlisle Railway. The service runs everyday, except Sundays, allowing holidaymakers plenty of flexibility for a trip.
On the first run of the day, the cameras caught up with the service near Helwith Bridge as 47712 charged towards Horton-in-Ribblesdale up 'The Long Drag', before moving north to catch 47593 work the return leg across Ribblehead Viaduct. For the second run, 47712 is seen thundering north at Selside, closely followed by LSL owned Class 20 - D8107 which was working light to Appleby. Moving near to Soulby, the cameras caught 47593 in its stride on the return leg, climbing the gradient towards Aisgill. For the final return run, 47712 is seen attacking the gradient at Horton-in-Ribblesdale, and later 47593 working hard near Southwaite.
