A short video announcement and presentation of PECO's NEW British outline TT 1:120 gauge track & accessories.

TT’, an historic acronym for ‘Table-Top’, was designed to meet the demands of true scale railway modelling and space restrictions that many enthusiasts encounter when building their layouts.

The 1:120 TT scale was first introduced in the USA by H.P. Products in 1945. It gained popularity in the USA, but went on to become particularly successful in Central and Eastern Europe.

In the UK, the founder of PECO, Sydney Pritchard, had also conducted experiments in producing British outline models in 1:120 scale. In 1957 Tri-ang launched its own version of TT employing the same gauge of 12mm, but with an increased scale of 1:101.6 (3mm to 1ft).

The decision to adopt a larger scale was taken to accommodate the larger mechanisms of the time, owing to the smaller size of British prototypes.

TT was initially quite successful in the UK and enjoyed trade support from a number of manufacturers, including PECO, but declined in popularity from the mid-1960s, partly due to the advent of commercial N Gauge.

The introduction of the NEW TT 1:120 scale by PECO factors in all of the detail of larger scale models, but with the space savings benefits of this smaller size, and simplified scale benefits of 1/10th of an inch to a foot. A significant benefit of TT 1:120 is that it provides an accurate scale to gauge ratio for British outline models compared to other commercially available scales for the UK market.

The TT:120 product range from PECO will include Streamline Flexible Track and Medium Radius Turnouts; a 7-Plank RCH Open Wagon; GWR Country Station, Goods Shed, and Signal Box Kits; Platform & Buffer Stop kits. Further track and accessory products are currently in development.
