Manufacturer description

The business was started in the early sixties by Mr Hugh Wilson and his wife Mrs Marion Wilson. For the first few years the main activity of the business was agricultural contracting based from a farm in Haughley, Suffolk, using machinery bought using money invested by Hugh's father Donald. This agricultural contracting developed into hay and straw dealing, This then needed transporting to customers, mainly in Wales. The business then had a need for a truck, to transport hay and straw to its customers. Its first, a Bedford O type with a 16ft body, was bought second-hand for £60. On return trips from Wales the Bedford came laden with quarry stone. In recent years the company has invested heavily in various pieces of equipment including a Nooteboom 8 axle trailer on which our model is based.

Oxford Diecast H C Wilson 1:76 scale model, part number SCA01LL, depicts a railway wagon used during the rebuilding of the railways. The model is based on a Nooteboom eight‑axle trailer that the company now employs.

The firm H C Wilson was founded in the early 1960s by Hugh Wilson and his wife Marion Wilson. Initially it operated as an agricultural contracting business from a farm at Haughley, Suffolk, using equipment financed by Hugh’s father, Donald Wilson.

The original activity expanded to hay and straw dealing, requiring transport to customers, mainly in Wales. The first vehicle acquired for this purpose was a second‑hand Bedford O‑type truck with a 16 ft body, purchased for £60. Return trips from Wales often carried quarry stone. In recent years the company has invested heavily in new equipment, including the Nooteboom trailer that the die‑cast model represents.
