Manufacturer description

This bus is shown on the South Croydon route 109 from the 1960's. During this period Crown Wallpapers were found advertising on a whole variety of mediums and buses were no exception. The history of wallpaper is quite interesting and back in 1899 Wall Paper Manufacturers Ltd. was incorporated to merge the manufacturing interests of 31 wallpaper undertakings. The newly formed company included practically the whole of the United Kingdom wallpaper manufacturing industry, and at that time its share of the trade was about 98 per cent, so that competition was virtually eliminated.
