Manufacturer description

Originally launched in 1938 the 18/85 remained in production until 1948. In this time the car became famous for its role as a Police car, as can be seen in many old black and white movies of the period .The 18/85 had a powerful 85bhp six cylinder engine, developed from the MG SA, ideal for hauling a car load of bobbies and their heavy radio equipment!

The 18/85 invariably came finished in black and featured the unique Wolseley "Nightpass" lights, which provided a curious anti-dazzle, dipped headlamp/driving lamp arrangement. Interiors were well appointed and the cars were well equipped for the time.

Oxford Diecast Police Wolseley 18/85 Series III – 1:76 Scale

Manufacturer part number 76WO001 represents a model of the British Railways Early Crest era. The diecast vehicle depicts the Wolseley 18/85 as it appeared in the late 1930s and 1940s, a period during which the car was widely used as a police vehicle.

The original 18/85 was launched in 1938 and remained in production until 1948. It was fitted with an 85 bhp six‑cylinder engine derived from the MG SA, giving sufficient power to carry police officers and their heavy radio equipment. The car was normally finished in black and featured Wolseley's distinctive “Nightpass” lights, an anti‑dazzle arrangement that combined a dipped headlamp with a driving lamp. Internally the vehicle was well appointed for its time, offering a comfortable and adequately equipped cabin.
