Manufacturer description
The versatile VW T1 van makes its latest appearance as the Samba Bus which in its heyday comprised the top of the range in style and luxury, boasting innovative features such as the two pivot doors at the side and a fabric sunroof. The front windscreen was split but there were a mass of side and roof windows for its occupants to enjoy the view. The Samba's two tone colour scheme was standard, highlighted by a decorative strip along the body, which here separates the grey beige of the lower body from the lighter pearl white upper body. The roof is finished in the same shade as the upper body with the sunroof panel in matt oyster white. Looking through the windows, we see the seating and floor moulded in dark grey beige and roof. External trim is silver, wheels are white as are the front and rear bumpers, which also echo the fine silver and red bearing of the bodywork. Our 1:76 scale bus is registered XKO 177A from 1963.

Oxford Diecast VW T1 Samba Bus Mouse Grey and Pearl White is a 1:76 scale model produced by Oxford Diecast, catalogue number 76VWS009. It depicts a British Rail Blue period (pre‑TOPS) Samba Bus as it appeared in 1963, registration XKO 177A.

The model features the distinctive two‑pivot side doors, a split front windscreen and a fabric sunroof. The bodywork is finished in a two‑tone colour scheme: a lower grey‑beige section separated by a decorative strip from the upper pearl white panels, with the roof matching the upper colour and the sunroof panel in matt oyster white. External details include silver trim, white wheels, and front and rear bumpers finished in white with fine silver and red accents.

Interior elements visible through the windows show dark grey‑beige seat moulding and flooring, reflecting the original vehicle’s styling. The model is intended for collectors of historic British coachwork and die‑cast vehicles.
