The Mini Van, launched in the 1960s, was a highly popular little vehicle which provided a cheap alternative to a car and its ¼ ton load capacity made it a favourite for private owners as well as those needing a small commercial vehicle, which in those days carried no sales tax. It was built on the longer Mini Traveller chassis and came without rear side windows. Another compromise to keep the cost down was a simplified steel grille.
Our very attractive Mini Van painted in dark blue with white lettering is as used by the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Careers Office which, according to the address on the van sides, was stationed at 34 Queens Road, Brighton. It also carries a naval number plate 36 RN 62. The interior is dark grey. The Austin Mini badge sits on the edge of the bonnet and an interesting addition comes with this version of the Mini Van – a large silver spotlight fixed to the nearside front bumper.

Oxford Diecast Mini Van Royal Navy – model number 76MV032 represents a British Rail Blue (pre‑TOPS) period vehicle. The miniature reproduces the 1960s Mini Van, a small commercial vehicle built on the longer Mini Traveller chassis, noted for its ¼‑ton load capacity, lack of rear side windows and a simplified steel grille to keep the purchase price low.
The die‑cast version is painted dark blue with white lettering and bears the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Careers Office livery, including the address “34 Queens Road, Brighton” and the naval registration “36 RN 62”. The interior is finished in dark grey, the Austin Mini badge is positioned on the bonnet edge, and a large silver spotlight is fitted to the nearside front bumper.
