The MG Midget MkIII was produced by the MG division of British Motor Corporation from 1966 to 1974. It was the third generation of the Midget series and incorporated several upgrades over the MkII, including a larger 1275 cc engine developing 65 bhp, a new folding hood, a larger fuel tank, rounder wheel arches, a more substantial windscreen frame and improved suspension. Over 99 000 MkIII cars were built, making it the most popular generation of the model. The MkIII was also the first Midget to be sold in large numbers in the United States, as it complied with contemporary US safety regulations, and it was praised for its lively performance, enjoyable handling and affordable price.
