Manufacturer description

The Consett Ore wagon was built for the conveyance of iron Ore from Tyne Dock to Consett specially constructed wagons of 56 tons capacity have been provided. Each wagon is fitted with: -the: vacuum automatic brake and four power-operated side discharge doors which are under the control of the train locomotive driver.

These operated with the 9F and then the class 24.

KR Models Set of 3 Consett Iron Ore Wagons - Pack E (With Load) is a 00 gauge model kit representing three wagons from the British Railways Late Crest period. The kit is supplied under the manufacturer part number KRM-CON-OO-3E-Load.

The wagons are modelled after the Consett ore wagons that transferred iron ore from Tyne Dock to the steelworks at Consett. Each wagon has a nominal capacity of 56 tons and is fitted with a vacuum automatic brake and four power‑operated side discharge doors, which were controlled from the locomotive driver’s cab. The wagons were operated in conjunction with the 9F locomotive and later with Class 24 diesel locomotives.

The three wagons in the set carry the British Railways running numbers B446008, B446022 and B446029.
