Manufacturer description

WEB EXCLUSIVE

Replicate realistic freight transportation with our Diesel Mixed Freight train set!

Hauling freight around the country was never an easy feat, especially for rural communities that required regular transportation of mixed freight such as aggregates, coal, ore and slate. To keep these rural communities going, freight lines were established, and several materials were transported to and from.

The West Country and Wales saw much of the haulage action on Britain’s railways. Diesel locomotives were outpacing steam when hauling freight around the UK. Great traction and immense power from locomotives were needed to pull the sheer amount of freight needed for dispersed towns and villages.

This train set contains a ‘Satellite’ liveried Bagnall 0-4-0 diesel shunter to pull a mixed amount of freight and rolling stock: a Bates Fuels tank wagon, a Gilbert DeChant ore wagon and a Richards & Cronin box van.

Hornby model railways are a complete system, so when you are ready, you can expand using more Hornby track, locomotives, coaches and wagons.
