Since the mid 1800’s the UK has seen post boxes adorning its streets, but they were very different then. It wasn’t until Queen Victoria's reign that a standard design was settled on. The ‘Type B’ pillar box was derived from the ‘Anonymous’ design, and has, with very little changes, stayed the iconic piece of street furniture we see today.

Gaugemaster OO Scale Post Boxes (2 pieces, pre‑built) are supplied in a pristine finish. Each box measures 5.5 mm in length, 5.5 mm in depth and 16 mm in height. The manufacturer's part number is GM462.

The miniature post boxes are modelled on the historic ‘Type B’ pillar box introduced during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837‑1901). Derived from the earlier ‘Anonymous’ design, the Type B box has remained virtually unchanged and is recognisable as an iconic piece of British street furniture. These models are intended for use in railway or other scale layouts.
