Livery:
The majority of coaching stock cascaded from BR regional service into Network SouthEast service was of the TSO type, which are fully open, Second Class vehicles, also known as Tourist Standard Open coaches.
These were used in trains of six or more vehicles, along with a BSK, on longer distance services, such as those operated between London Waterloo and Exeter, usually in the hands of an English Electric Class 50 from the launch of NSE – for which two locomotives were specially repainted into the striking new livery – and the early 1990s when they were replaced by Class 47s.
